Design for Change is embarking on a multi-year initiative to grow our direct to teacher product offering. We recognize there is a gap in the market for out-of-the-box and easy-to-adopt Equity and Social Justice programs for middle schoolers. We believe Design for Change can fill that need for teachers around the country.
Over the course of 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we adapted all of our student activities to be applicable for remote synchronous and asynchronous learning environments. We now wish to expand upon that product by improving our overall product-market-fit, onboarding and customer success approaches and tools.
Requirements
The main goal of the product lead will be to build, deploy, measure, and iterate on this important phase of developing our product. The lead will work with internal and external stakeholders to gain alignment on a clear product strategy and roadmap and then work with our engineering team to implement that product vision.
- Product Strategy: Work with internal stakeholders (CEO, board, employees, etc) to craft preliminary product strategy; including the value proposition, jobs to be done, delivery channels and pricing options. Communicate this strategy internally to the operations team, executives, board, and employees. Communicate externally to funders, prospective customers and other stakeholders.
- Product Research: Perform interviews with internal stakeholders, potential buyers, teachers, and students to develop hypotheses around offerings and experiences.
- Develop product roadmap meant to validate hypotheses.
- Develop actionable backlog of design and development work to deliver on product roadmap milestones.
- Communicate the product roadmap and updates to it to internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage developers who will build and maintain our platform.
- Find and manage content creators (videos, copy, curriculum design, etc).
- Develop and update success metrics.
- Defined customer success workflow and processes to onboard, train and support customers in their use of the software.
Qualifications
The Product Lead should have at least 2-3 years of experience in the following areas:
- Interviewing customers and other stakeholders to determine market needs
- Researching the industry landscape and understanding the different players and their market and product positioning
- Working with web marketing tools such as Hubspot and AdWords.
- Working with UX designers to develop journey maps and proof of concepts.
