Job Description

  • Hands on manager reporting to Controller responsible for the day to day accounting operations to include, general ledger accountability, and financial reporting, as well as financial profitability analysis and other special projects as assigned.
  • Coordinate with contracts and program managers for contract compliance and financial updates.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for management of day-to-day accounting/finances tasks that are executed by the accounting staff
  • Manage all aspects of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and general ledger activities
  • Manage all aspects of cost and time accounting and tracking including cost account creation, cost account tracking, and cost account reporting
  • Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
  • Assist in cash flow forecasting and daily bank reporting
  • Support annual audit with external CPA firm
  • Continually evaluate and propose process improvements/automation
  • Coordinate with Contracts Manager for contract compliance in CPFF, FFP, IDIQ, LOE, PO contracts
  • Manage accounting staff
  • Prepare annual DCAA incurred cost submission and prepare rate adjustment invoices
  • Assist Controller in providing regular corporate financial status updates, as required, including preparation of balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position
  • Responsible for providing financial reports on a per contract basis to Program Managers and the Senior Management Team (also known as Job Status Reports)
  • Audit contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepare reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to monthly close process
  • Establish, modify, document, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures and manuals

Requirements

  • Qualifications and Education Requirements
    • U.S. Citizenship is required due to this position requiring a U.S. government clearance (Secret clearance at a minimum)
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
    • CPA a plus
    • 8+ years’ of government accounting experience.
    • Proficient in Deltek Costpoint
    • Familiarity with Concur
    • Team player with a positive attitude and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    Required Skills
    • Ability to use problem solving skills, accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.
    • Thorough knowledge of generally acceptable accounting procedures (GAAP), DCAA, FARs, DFARs, JTR, CONUS, WAWF, MOCAS and DFAS.
    • Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division quickly and accurately.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
