Job Description

The Daniel Group is hiring for a 2nd shift TIG Welder in the Cedar Park Area. We are seeking candidates with experience in TIG, soldering amp; brazing, brass, and stainless steel.

Shift is Monday through Thursday 4:30PM to 3:00AM. Friday and Saturday as needed.

This is a Temp to Permanent Hire opportunity and the pay rate is based on experience and welding test ($17.50 - $19.50).


The ideal candidate must have the ability to:

  • Read blueprints, work orders, or production schedules to determine product or job instructions or specifications.
  • Use basic hand tools: grinders, sanders, chipping hammer, etc.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure down to 1/16th of an inch.
  • Ability to prioritize work flow to meet daily production goals.
  • Clean, lubricate, maintain, and adjust equipment to maintain efficient operation, using air hoses, cleaning fluids, and hand tools.
  • Grinds seam welds for smoothness, ensuring no cracks bleed through, to ensure work piece meets quality standards
  • Compute and record settings for new work, applying knowledge of metal properties, principle of welding and shop mathematics.
  • Conduct trial runs before welding, soldering, or brazing and make necessary adjustments to equipment.
  • Perform daily maintenance on machines, and stocks inventory cabinets for work supplies.
  • Design application for new products.
  • Follow safety rules and procedures.
  • Wear PPE as necessary.
  • Do work assigned by supervisor.
  • Work in team environment, be quality conscious and strive for continuous quality improvement with emphasis on Lean and 5s principles.


Job Description

  • 30% Of the job is to inspect, measure or test completed metal work pieces to ensure conformation to specifications, using metal and testing devices.
  • 20% Of the job is to prepare metal surfaces or work pieces, using hand-operated equipment, such as grinders, cutters, or drills. Prepare aluminum by cleaning with alcohol or acetone.
  • 10% Of the job is to assemble, align and clamp work pieces into holding fixtures to bond, heat-treat, or solder fabricated metal components. Correct problems by adjusting controls or by stopping machines and opening holding devices.
  • 10% Of the job is to layout, fit, or connect parts to be bonded, calculating production measurements as necessary.
  • 10% Of the job is to mark weld points and positions of components on work pieces using rulers, squares, templates or scribes.
  • 10% Of the job is to select torch tips, alloys, flux, coil, tubing or wire, according to metal types or thickness, data charts, or records.
  • 10% Of the job is to set dials and timing controls to regulate electrical current, gas flow pressure, heating or cooling cycles, or shut-off. Observe meters, gauges or machine operations to ensure that soldering or brazing processes meets standards.


Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma.
  • 1-2 years of welding experience.
  • At least 6 months of TIG welding, brazing, and soldering experience meeting superior aesthetic, cosmetic, and high quality standards.
  • Previous TIG welding experience that met superior aesthetic, cosmetic, and high quality standards.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Must have own Welding PPE**.
  • Willing to work OT.


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Trade School training.
  • MIG/TIG Certification.
