As a Performance Engineer in the Search team, you'll be maintaining and improving the core services that the entire company relies on. You will be working on the performance and stability of the whole backend system, from the API endpoints to the lowest level data structures and search algorithms, as well as system architecture and service orchestration. You'll help determine what technologies we use to make backend performance blazing fast, and you'll help craft testing strategies to make sure uptime is 100% and customers stay satisfied.
Constructor.io powers product search and discovery for some of the largest retailers in the world, like Sephora and Backcountry. We serve billions of requests every year, and you’ve probably seen our results somewhere and used our product without knowing it. We differentiate ourselves by focusing on metrics over features, and reinventing search and discovery from the ground up as a machine learning challenge with the specific goal of improving metrics like revenue. Requirements
You will be successful in this role if you're described by some of the below:
- Have a strong computer science foundation, understand fundamental data structures amp; their tradeoffs
- Design algorithms to solve difficult problems amp; adjust the solution depending on the metrics that need to be optimized
- Have worked at a high-traffic website and designed highly available and robust systems
- Have experience working with low-level compiled programming languages, operating systems amp; fundamental concepts like memory management, caching, concurrency, etc.
- Take pride in code quality and test coverage
- Pick up new ideas and technologies quickly, love learning and talking to others about them
- Enjoy helping others around you grow as developers and be successful
- Can work independently
- Love to experiment and use performance metrics to drive decision making
- Have experience working with search platforms like Solr or Elasticsearch.
