Southwest U.S. 501c3 Regional Fundraising/Business Development Consultant | 12-Month Engagement

GENYOUth (GY) seeks to retain a full-time fundraising/business development Consultant to provide services that drive strategy, tactical implementation and fundraising to support its youth wellness mission. This is a 12-month engagement that has the potential to renew for an additional 12-month period, and is based in the Southwestern U.S.

The Consultant will develop and secure corporate partnerships and leverage platforms in the Southwest to advance GY’s fundraising priorities in an alignment with GY and will be tasked with growing financial support for GENYOUth’s core initiatives, including our flagship program Fuel Up to Play 60, focused on creating healthier school communities while addressing student hunger and food insecurity challenges.

Accountabilities:

Immediate

  • Strategically identify prospective donors and build upon previous GY development partnerships in Southern California and the Southwest with a focus on GY’s upcoming marquee events in association with the 2022 Super Bowl in Los Angeles.
  • Prepare strategic, insightful 12-18 month prospect outreach plans -- along with more detailed 30-60 day detailed business prospecting/fundraising plans.
  • Create and maintain current records in GY’s CRM database, and a document tracking tool to capture pertinent information, including: the number of identified contacts; donation support requested/secured; list of contact activities, and status updates.
  • Generate $3Million in new, incremental support for GY’s initiatives.

On-going

  • Perform prospect research on corporations and foundations with the purpose of identifying and developing strategic partnerships and underwriter opportunities that will further support and complement both the mission and advancement Fuel Up to Play 60 and/or GENYOUth’s fund-raising goals.
  • Initiate and develop research and fundraising materials to attract key supporters/underwriters.
  • Draft compelling letters and underwriter proposals to renew or solicit new major gifts and contribute to monthly e-newsletter, Board updates, thank you letters, etc.
  • Oversee and execute the pursuit of GY grant submission initiatives by seeking relationships with foundations and corporations that offer funding resources via application and interview processes.
  • Provide report covering performance against goals/objectives on bi-monthly basis to GY.
  • Prep for quarterly review sessions with GY senior management to track/report on progress to date
  • Meet fundraising goals

Requirements

Qualifications

Consultant should possess at minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in business, communications, philanthropic studies, sports marketing/sales or related field(s), and have at least 5+ years of experience/proven results in a development/sales role within a public/private organization and an accountable history of annual fund-raising/sponsorship sales in excess of $5 Million.

Must have knowledge of, and engagement with, grant-supported initiatives including grant research and application process management.

Sponsor/partner sales experience with a professional sports league or team will be valued in considering final candidate selections.

The Consultant will be based in the Southwest (or will self-relocate to the SW); regional travel will be required.

The role requires that the Consultant has outstanding oral, written and sales communication skills, and can effectively manage multiple tasks to successful completion. Other requirements include:

  • Sales-oriented self-starter and action-orientation
  • Proven experience working collaboratively within a group in the management of complex projects
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity
  • Experienced in corporate relations and interfacing with C-suite leadership
  • Leadership within Community and/or involvement with Non-Profit Organizations
  • Proficient computer skills, inclusive of Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop
