About the Space Systems Ramp;D Team

The Space Systems Ramp;D Team is a multidisciplinary team within the Engineering department. We keep our eye out for the state-of-the-art technologies and bring them to the space vehicle to implement the product road map. Members of the team work across the organization to collaborate on requirements and implementation approaches to deliver innovative new systems.

About the Role/ Job Description

The Space Systems Ramp;D Team is ramping up many exciting projects and are looking for an additional team member to help plan and execute successfully. Ongoing efforts span from component level upgrades to total spacecraft design iterations. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated, collaborative, and supportive team to achieve novel on-orbit capabilities. This roll will directly contribute to large scale and high impact efforts within the company. You will help drive Capella’s ability to launch cutting edge technologies to space.

Requirements

  • Preference for self-driven and fast paced work environment
  • Experience leading projects/programs for spacecraft or spacecraft subsystems
  • Multidisciplinary: Ability to work across all engineering disciplines
  • Ability to communicate program status, priority, risks, direction, etc both laterally and to company leadership
  • Experience working with technical leads to develop project plans, scope work, drive design progression and implementation: procure, build, develop, test and launch!
  • Ability to bring together diverse program stakeholders outside of the Spacecraft Ramp;D org such as Space Operations, Radar Systems, Data Processing, Data Science and Customer insights.
  • Execution is your middle name, for timelines from short term to multiyear horizons
  • Ability to sort through ambiguity; this will not be purely a top down requirement flow like found in traditional aerospace. You will have an active roll in shaping and defining requirements to balance top down and bottoms up to find an optimal solution.
  • Willingness to jump in and perform outside your typical duties to ensure program success
  • Experience: 5+ years required, 10+years preferred

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with Jira a plus, but learnable. More important is experience working with highly agile teams and tracking open work items to a close
  • Engineering/ technical education background preferred or similar work experience

Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires special access to conduct the work and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
