The Trailer Jockey maintains a continuous material flow (i.e. from spotted trailers and tankers) throughout the plant to ensure production demands are met, and to provide spotted trailers for outbound shipments as well.


MUST HAVE CURRENT CLASS A CDL


Sign-on bonus details

$500 paid at 60 days, $1000 at 6 months. Must be in good standing to qualify. Bonus will be paid on the next full pay period once milestone has been reached. Applicable to this position only, at our Strasburg location only.


How does a Trailer Jockey at KTP spend a typical day?

  • Maintaining an accurate inventory of dropped trailers in the drop lot (i.e. part number, date received, trailer number, lot number and quantity).
  • Supplying production lines with correct materials needed to support production demands while following FIFO (first in/first out)
  • Load/unloading raw materials and finished goods efficiently and safely. Ensure that outbound trailers are loaded properly to distribute weight and eliminate damage
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, organized warehouse and work area
  • Building and grounds maintenance (i.e. snow removal)
  • Processing all required paperwork accurately and timely
  • Removing waste from the production lines as well as transporting waste and cardboard to compactor
  • Safely changing forklift batteries using provided using provided safety gear
  • Assisting in physical inventories and cycle counts
  • Completing lot tracking of all incoming raw materials and packaging components
  • Making proper markings of raw materials for warehouse storage

Requirements

  • Must have current CDL Class A
  • Must have at least six months experience, over the road experience is preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with strong communication skills
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion with information.
  • Proven ability to read and understand Bill of Lading (BOL) from inbound loads and outbound shipments
