About the Role

The Director, Benefit Consulting role is responsible for client strategy, service, and retention of Bennie’s clients. This includes managing Bennie’s consulting amp; brokerage model, keeping consulting deliverables current as market needs evolve, managing Bennie’s team of consultants, and partnering with internal amp; external stakeholders, all to ensure that clients are delighted with their Bennie experience.

This individual should have proven experience building amp; leading a benefits consulting team, managing a large book of clients whose populations range from 25 to 1,000 employees and who offer multiple plan funding arrangements from fully-insured to ASO, managing insurance carrier amp; vendor relationships, and managing day-to-day consulting operations. Additionally, this individual should have strong knowledge of the general agency market and common HRIS amp; benefits technology platforms as well.

The ideal candidate is someone excited to join a startup and use her/his benefits industry knowledge to help define the way Bennie provides a new generation of benefits consulting services.

This is a remote position, so this individual can be located anywhere in the U.S.


Responsibilities include:

  • Owning the Bennie client book of business with full responsibility for client retention amp; satisfaction
  • Managing the consulting delivery model, ensuring each team member delivers on the model and updating the model when necessary to align with company amp; market evolution
  • Managing the consulting team and all consultants amp; analysts, including recruiting, developing, and training the team as it grows
  • Developing amp; maintaining relationships with industry partners (carriers, administrators, general agencies) that support consulting amp; brokerage delivery
  • Maintaining internal resources for the consulting team amp; coordinating training when necessary
  • Partnering with Bennie departmental leadership (Sales, Product, Engineering, Operations) to ensure consulting team alignment with other Bennie initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Life amp; Health Producer’s License
  • At least 7-10 years’ experience in benefits consulting amp; brokerage
  • Existing insurance industry relationships
  • People management and team development experience
  • Large- and small- group benefits consulting experience
  • Working knowledge of Google suite, MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Salesforce


Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with today’s leading HR/Benefits technology platforms
