We’re looking for a leader in UX and digital product design who’s ready to build team capacity in innovative product design approaches all with the ultimate goal of creating engaging health communication products that empower people to take charge of their health. Apply your advanced knowledge of the human-centered design process to lead interdisciplinary teams in designing and developing accessible digital products that help further CommunicateHealth’s mission: to improve lives by designing health information that’s easy to understand and use.
Focus Areas
Design
- Sets product design direction for complex digital products and works closely with content strategists, visual designers, and developers to implement
- Takes a component-based approach to designing multi-faceted digital products including developing journey maps, task flows, wireframes, and prototypes
- Makes and approves UX and UI design recommendations based on deep expertise in usability, responsive design, and accessibility best practices
- Accurately estimates timeline and level of effort for product design tasks
UX Research and Evaluation
- Advocates for the end user in requirements-gathering conversations with clients and internal teams
- Ensures research and evaluation activities align with product goals and objectives and inform ongoing strategy
- Guides teams in distilling user feedback and analytics into product ideas and refinements
Leadership
- Maintains and develops CommunicateHealth’s standards for designing easy-to-use digital products
- Proactively identifies gaps in processes that impact larger projects or teams, and refines or develops new processes and templates when needed
- Supervises, mentors, and coaches staff across CommunicateHealth’s product design and development program
- Trains project teams on UX and product design best practices and processes
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience
- Demonstrated experience putting UX and product design strategy and processes in place to build complex digital products
- Advanced knowledge in responsive design, component-based design, and usability best practices
- Excellent communication skills, including thoughtful listening, the ability to express complex ideas clearly and succinctly, and the ability to communicate well in writing
- Advanced skills with with Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Degree in related field such as graphic design, human-computer interaction, information design, or computer science

- Federal plain language guidelines and Section 508 compliance
- Content management systems such as Drupal and WordPress
