Position Purpose:
Under the direction of the Director of Events and Events Manager, the Event Server is responsible for set-up, execution, and break-down of all Inns of Aurora events and to assist guests to create a satisfying and luxurious experience.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Task:
- Set up event space as outlined in the Banquet Event Order
- Set tables prior to guest arrival with appropriate utensils, table cloths, condiments etc
- Restock all stations
- Understand and be able to describe the specific food and beverage menu for every event
- Check identification for guests to verify age requirements for purchase of alcoholic drinks
- Communicate with guests in a poised and professional manner
- Accommodate all guests while circulating the event area
- Check in with guests consistently to ensure satisfaction
- Serve water, coffee and tea to guests
- Prepare cocktails as ordered and bring to guests, or deliver to bartender
- Run food from kitchen with trays or by hand, as needed
- Complete all side work and daily cleaning tasks
- Adhere to cleaning duties required at end of shift
- Remove dishes and glasses from tables and take to kitchen during meals
- Report all issues in the dining area to restaurant management team
- Maintain the cleanliness of the service area
- Attend all mandatory training and meetings
- Maintain positive and helpful attitude with all guests and Inns of Aurora employees
- Maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to proper dress policy, as defined in the IOA handbook
- Follow guidelines and expectations as stated in the employee handbook
Requirements
- Must be flexible in scheduling and have open weekend availability
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task effectively under fast-paced working conditions
- Ability to maintain neat, professional and clean appearance and practices
- Ability to work while standing for long periods of time
- Ability to work in a team environment with other servers, host, bartenders, chefs and other Inns of Aurora employees
- Ability to adhere to proper food regulation standards and health and safety standards
- High level of professionalism and passion for the hospitality industry
- Flexibility pertaining to guest needs and hourly schedules
- TIPS certifications; will train as needed
PREFERENCES
- High school or college level degree
- Previous customer service, banquet/events/catering serving or fine-dining serving experience
- Knowledge and understanding of workplace safety procedures
- Local wine, food and fine-dining knowledge
