OUR PURPOSE

The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) is a not-for-profit membership organization that promotes the health of women and newborns. Our mission is to empower and support nurses caring for women, newborns, and their families through research, education, and advocacy.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager, Clinical Program Development identifies and develops strategies that connect members, colleagues, and institution customers to AWHONN educational services and programs. This individual demonstrates abilities for linking and interfacing with external and internal stakeholders, including education, technology, marketing, and sales teams, to ensure successful delivery and implementation of AWHONN clinical education solutions.

DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Education Development

  • Investigate areas of need through fact-based market and customer insights research with the lead nurse planner.
  • Explore new opportunities within the AWHONN market sectors that have potential to increase revenue growth.
  • Assist in the creation of clinical education innovations, including cross-platform opportunities.
  • Develop product concept design options with the Education team.
  • Develops simulation-based education for live and enduring education material.
  • Identify and work with subject matter experts to review/produce AWHONN content.
  • Serves as clinical/organizational liaison to identified organizations and business partners as requested.
  • Keeps abreast of current clinical issues and research for continuing professional development and integrates relevant findings and information as applicable for program development.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Collaborates on the development and management of the assigned budgets.
  • Collaborates with the Sr. Manager of Library and Archives to ensure cataloging of all existing and future resources.
  • Participate in assessing clinical program needs of AWHONN members and groups to care for women and newborns.
  • Serve as a Nurse Planner and member of the AWHONN Provider Unit. Maintains ANCC files for CE on specified products.
  • Participate in evaluation of the impact and effectiveness of AWHONN programs, products, and services.
  • Offer consultation for the development, dissemination, and evaluation of products that offer innovative strategies to all stakeholders.
  • Maintains expertise in educational design and adult learning theories, assumes responsibility for implementing accreditation criteria for selected educational activities.

Continuing Nursing Education

LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS

Provide ongoing professional mentoring within the organization, assist in expansion of learning, translation of clinical expertise to non-clinical staff, provide tools to help build knowledge, skills, and growth capacity. Serve as a resource for staff colleagues. Promote positive work environment for all staff and effectively collaborates with leadership team.

SUPERVISION

Works independently under the guidance of the Director of Clinical Program Development. Receives guidance on clarification and interpretation of policies of the organization. Work is periodically reviewed while in progress and/or upon completion.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS amp; REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in nursing or relevant graduate degree with a BSN.
  • Current, unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse.
  • Maintain certification in specialty area.
  • Experience as a Clinical Educator/Clinical Nurse Specialist and/or Nurse Planner highly desirable
  • Five to ten years of recent clinical experience in women’s health, obstetrics, or neonatal nursing.
  • Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating quality improvement or evidence-based practice projects strongly preferred.
  • Experience in planning, facilitating and debriefing simulation educational offerings.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, highly preferred.
  • Budget development experience preferred.
  • Experience in innovative educational program design, implementation and evaluation in an association setting highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and manage multiple priorities often under tight timelines.
  • Highly effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skill with attention to detail, quality and accuracy of output.
  • Demonstrated computer skills required, preferably using Microsoft Office Suites applications.
  • Demonstrated skill in video conferencing.
