Monte Rosa Therapeutics is searching for a Laboratory Manager to provide technical, facilities, and management support for our new expanded premises in Seaport Location. The ideal candidate will have experience and strength in laboratory services and hazardous waste handling. Prior experience in maintaining an adequate inventory of research lab glassware, materials, and general laboratory equipment is also advantageous. In this encompassing role, the successful candidate should be willing to learn and take on responsibilities not in job description as the need arises in the areas of EHamp;S, facilities and purchasing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining stocks of laboratory supplies: sterile, disposable and reusable glassware and plasticware, media and buffer stocks, lab coats and miscellaneous materials.
Responsible for overseeing purchasing of all common reagents, gases, chemicals, and equipment needed for general lab use.
Serve as the company’s Biosafety Officer, and actively engage with our safety consultants to assist in administering our Biosafety, Chemical Hygiene, and Emergency Action strategies.
May also be trained to conduct simple laboratory procedures in order to assist the research scientists (such as preparation cell media, buffers, etc.).
Manage hazardous/flammable/biological waste containment strategy and coordinate the disposal of laboratory waste.
Activities may also include maintaining laboratory records and coordinating with various regulatory agencies as required.
General maintenance and set up of standard laboratory equipment such as vacuum pumps, incubators, and centrifuges, as well as administration of annual maintenance contracts.
Oversee and assist in general repairs, maintenance and upkeep of facility, work with landlord as it applies to core infrastructure and services.
Establish and maintain relationships with external vendors and service providers
Must be willing to be on call.
Requirements
Education : AS /B.S. in scientific discipline or equivalent *Experience / Specific Skills: 1-4 years in a supporting scientific research role.
Knowledge of Industrial Safety. Familiarity with Scientific Equipment. Excellent Communication Skills.
Basic computer skills.
RCRA certified, HAZWOPPER certified, DOT a plus, IATA a plus, ERP system experience
