As a Solutions Engineer you will support the sales process, demonstrate and articulate the features of our products best suited for the customer’s needs. You will conduct discovery calls, draft and deliver presentations and proposals, demonstrate the features of company products, and create customized solutions for the client.
To ensure success as a Solutions Engineer, you should have in-depth knowledge of data centers, software and hardware systems, and high-level communications skills. Ultimately, great Solutions Engineers drive sales by developing a detailed understanding of Virtual Power Systems’ hardware and software and applying that knowledge to the design of systems that optimize power capacity, availability, and efficiency in customers’ data centers.
Responsibilities for Solutions Engineer
- Conduct client discovery calls to discuss their hardware and software needs
- Strategize with the sales team to create customized solutions
- Draft and deliver presentations on targeted products
- Design hardware and software solutions for customers
- Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including time and scope involved
- Assist other engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and demonstrating them internally and to customers
- Develop installation planning documentation to direct contractors
- Analyze customer designs and power consumption data to create an optimized solution for customers and configure systems accordingly
- Advise customers and contractors during installation of hardware systems
- Lead execution of testing and commissioning on site with customers
- Provide structured feedback to product teams to focus product design and development
- Analyze current processes and technologies used within the company and develop steps and processes to improve
- Develop and maintain customer relationships
- Support the sales team and customers with all technical related queries
Requirements
Qualifications for Solutions Engineer
- 5+ years experience as a Solutions Engineer
- 5+ years in data center engineering related roles
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering preferred
- Experience with software engineering, customer experience, and system architecture
- Extensive knowledge and experience working with Linux operating systems
- Professional work experience in analyzing computer hardware and software
- Ability to work with various internal groups to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed project plan
- Motivated to develop and improve the process of delivering solutions to customers
- Curiosity and desire to learn
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to create big-picture software solutions
