The Technology Strategy and Insights team within Oppo is responsible for setting new technology strategy and delivering technology insights across multiple segments to Oppo executives and other internal and external partners. While Oppo already delivers multiple consumer electronics devices to our customers, the company is constantly exploring the new frontier of the next big thing.
As a Principal Technology Strategist , you will be part of the larger strategy community at Oppo. This community plays a critical role in the broad technology planning, working closely with senior executives to develop our mid to long-term technical and business strategy, enables us to deliver innovative new solutions. You will be seen as the subject matter expert in the related areas within Oppo and play a pivotal role in shaping Oppo’s technology strategy in these areas.
A successful candidate will bring strong strategic thinking, a passion for new technologies, ability to conceptualize visionary, groundbreaking product ideas, desire to have an industry wide impact and ability to work within a fast-moving environment in a cross-cultural company to rapidly deliver strategic insights and recommendations that have a broad business impact.
You will manage and be responsible for understanding technology trends, competitive landscape, market dynamics, and setting some of our most strategic technical directions and have a significant long-term impact on our technology and competitive position.
Requirements
Your responsibilities will include:
•Lead Technology Strategy Development Own and drive Oppo’s technology strategy in one or more of these areas: computer vision, connected car and self driving, robotics, next generation OS (OS used in IoT, smart home, robotics, automotive, etc.).
•Own long-term goals, opportunities and competitive analysis, and business metrics to inform direction.
•Set Technology Direction Own technology innovation plan that ensures Oppo’s pathway to a potential leadership position.
•Define Long-Term gt;3 years) Technology Vision Including all aspects to future roadmap, investment, innovation and experimentation.
•Generate and maintain Oppo’s capability matrix. Based on the matrix map out areas for build versus invest and acquire.
•Gather technology intelligence and insights, compile global competitive landscape.
•Engage with various Oppo teams, including corporate strategy, engineering, product management, business development.
•Define collaboration and partnership strategy and engage with research community, startup ecosystem, industry leaders, standard community, etc.
•Discuss complex industry-specific technology concepts with executives , product managers, software developers, external partners, etc.
•Influence senior leaders across Oppo and communicate the team’s vision, strategy, goals, status, and customer impact
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
•Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, MIS, or a related field
•The ability to be creative. This includes the ability to produce breakthrough ideas, being a visionary, managing innovation, seeing multiple futures, having broad interests and knowledge, and gaining support in order to translate new ideas into solutions. This also includes the ability to plan and implement unconventional ideas and speculate about alternative futures without all of the data
•10+ years of experience in product management, product engineering, product development, software development for one or more of the following,
Automotive (including self driving) industry, specifically related to Infotainment and Connected Car ecosystems, and/or the development and deployment of ADAS/AD platforms. Experience in the development and deployment of a fully connected car ecosystem. Understanding of an automaker’s business model economics related to the development and deployment of new product and service
Computer vision technologies applied to consumer applications
IoT, smart home device, robotics and other next generation consumer electronics device related operating system
Service robotics specifically related to software platform and multi-modal design, navigation, grasping and manipulation
•3+ years of experience developing, defining, managing technology roadmap
•Expert knowledge of the related technology and its trend
•Well connected with the related research community, startup ecosystem, industry leaders, standard community, etc.
•Ability to communicate complex topics to an audience with various functional knowledge, i.e. presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences
