Job Description
Hale Akua Garden Farm amp; Eco-Retreat Center is a gorgeous eco-retreat center, health retreat and certified organic farm, overlooking 30 miles of untouched Maui coastline. It is located in the pristine valley of Huelo, just outside of Haiku - a valley far removed from GMO corn pollen, gasoline fumes and pesticide contamination present on the other side of the island. We host both individuals, families, couples and small groups who come to unwind, reconnect with their deeper selves, get healthy, study yoga, and learn about organic gardening if they so desire. We also host retreats where retreat participants can expand their skills in communication, massage, beneficial health practices, yoga, meditation, permaculture, art and dance. Hale Akua is also a large retreat venue supplier where retreat leaders from all over the world rent out the venue to host their retreat at Hale Akua. The center also has a 60 foot swimming pool, several hot tubs and a sauna in addition to beautiful gardens and farm fields. We are seeking to ensure that the retreat center functions well with an excellent guest experience. Hours for this full-time job are Sunday-Thursday 9am-5pm, and hours may vary to this as the retreat center is making a 'soft opening' after COVID-19.
First and foremost, we want someone who is very excited about being part of a team and who is open to training in Compassionate Communication (NVC), a system of communication developed by Marshall Rosenberg PhD. (cnvc.org) Compassionate Communication has proven to be profoundly helpful to people in both their private lives and their businesses all over the world. If they already are familiar with Compassionate Communication, that is even better. Both basic and ongoing training is included in the job.
Additionally, we want that person to have had experience with taking at least some retreat, whether weekend or week-longs in his or her life, and, as a result, has some understanding of the kind of people who come to retreats.
Requirements
This Job starts out as a training position, where you will work with the other staff, and where you will eventually graduate to a full time co-managing position. As we move back into being a full-time business, we would add to your duties being a general point person in the office who will maintain a google doc about what is being done on the property. The job might also include visually surveying, communicating with and collecting reports from other staff people and contractors on any current jobs being done at Hale Akua Garden Farm.
Job Qualifications Summary:

Prior office experience is a must
Excellent computer skills and have an ability to learn more
Ability to be cross-trained and willingness to perform duties outside scope of position is a must (an example would be light housekeeping)
Ability to multi-task and to prioritize (for example, ability to check multiple guests in at once)
Experience with booking systems / software
Ability to draft retreat contracts, utilizing math skills and the creation of basic Excel calculations
Communication training is provided as part of this job, but prior communication training is considered a big plus. Compassionate Communication (NVC), the kind we provide, an excellent tool for anyone wishing to communicate effectively in life as well as help manage our hospitality program.
Previous sales training may be useful. Our form of sale training will also be provided, as needed.
Benefits
$18 per hour; 100% Paid Health Insurance, Vision, Dental, Paid Time Off (Includes paid vacation, holidays and sick days), provided. Hours are generally 9:00am-5:00pm but may shift sometimes when coordinating with the retreat schedules. Flexibility with job share duties/office tasks is a must. Use of salt water pool, hot tub and sauna facilities after work hours.
