Job Description

Under the direction of the Patient Access Coordinator, the Patient Experience Specialist is responsible for providing high-level training to all clinical departments and acts as the Subject Matter Expert for all procedures and workflows implemented by the Medical, Dental, Patient Access, Behavioral Health, and Member Services Departments. The Patient Experience Specialist will collaborate with all clinical departments to determine departmental training needs using professional skills, sensitivity, and discretion, to ensure that all departments strive to achieve the highest level of patient satisfaction and access to care.

Requirements

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate and develop, present, and maintain a robust training program for all new and existing front-line employees.
  • Organizes amp; host training classes or one on one training sessions
  • Perform daily audit reports to ensure quality standards are met
  • Perform all essential job functions for appropriate patient facing roles within the health center.
  • Adhere to all essential EHR workflows within NextGen
  • Conduct patient audits for standby appointments
  • Maintains clinical scheduling workflows as appropriate
  • Ensure accurate completion of EHR data required for all patient appointments
  • Collect and record patient payments as needed
  • Ensures patient consents and demographic information are current and schedules annual updates when necessary.
  • Uses Federal Poverty Guideline as a screening tool to determine sliding scale assignment of uninsured, or under insured patients.
  • Assists with other county programs such as CHDP, Family Pact, and Every Woman Counts.
  • Verifies eligibility with Managed Care, Medi-Cal, private insurance, and determines appropriate co-payment.
  • Assists patients with health insurance information such as Medi-Cal, Medicare, Healthy Families, CAIR and GMC (Geographic Managed Care) programs.
  • Completes daily data corrections as needed.
  • Ensures correct scheduling guidelines are followed for all health center departments
  • Compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to position including; HIPAA, sexual harassment, scope of practice, OSHA, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have 1 year knowledge and experience working in healthcare
  • Required experience with electronic health records systems
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent telephone and communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate superior professionalism and the ability to collaborate with teams
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and work well under pressure.

  • Experience with NextGen
