Overview
We are looking for a Localization Buyer for our Boston Market. Reporting directly to the Localization Buying Lead, your primary responsibility is to generate local partnerships in Boston to add a local flare and relevancy to the assortment.
As one of the early members of Gorillas, you will have a significant role in shaping the direction of our business and category.
Your Responsibilities
- Set the goals and strategic direction for local partnerships in the Boston market to ensure relevancy and rapid scalability
- Work closely with marketing and site merchandising to identify opportunities to drive awareness to these brands
- Create opportunities that highlight CSR and social causes while identifying and fostering quality relationships
- Drive strategic buying decisions across Boston Market with data-driven insights
- Work with headquarters to learn about and implement best practices from our other markets
- Optimize shelf space to maximise revenue per order and reduce cannibalization across categories
Requirements
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Merchandising or related field
- 3+ years of experience in Grocery Buying / Category Management
- Advanced knowledge in category management and/or product development
- Ability to effectively manage negotiations and conduct category management
- Demonstrated leadership abilities within grocery retail
- Must be local to the Boston metropolitan area
- Traveling throughout the city 25-50% of the time to establish partnerships
Preferred Skills
- Experience in a start-up environment - Grocery / Food amp; Beverages ideal
- Established network of suppliers, distributors and retailers in the food space in Boston
