PPS Internship

Intern Learning Objectives:

Academic

Application of concepts or theories of a business, IT, or engineering major and the development of new knowledge and understanding.

  • Learn and understand PPS's application of tools and technology to support business operations.
  • Learn and understand the PPS value proposition and the methodology behind PPS information security consulting and advisory services.
  • Learn how PPS analyzes and utilizes data to make strategic and tactical decisions.

Professional

Skill development related to major or occupation; and/or general skills such as oral and written communication, critical thinking, organization, problem-solving, decision making, leadership, interpersonal relationships, technical, etc.

  • Develop the communication skills needed to respond to internal/external customer inquiries.
  • Participate in the QA process emphasizing the importance of written communication skills.
  • Observe, participate and/or contribute to project deliverables
  • Learn and understand PPS methodology in operating an entrepreneurial business.
  • Adapt to working with employees of varying experience, skill sets, and geographical locations.
  • Determine if becoming a business entrepreneur or working for a small company is a career goal.
  • Develop potential as a professional in alignment with an academic focus.
  • Support operations by working with the team to optimize tools such as MS Teams, CRM, and Wrike.
  • Support Security Assessment, GRC practices, and Operations in the development and documentation of PPS Way.
  • Exercise your programming skills (if you have them) to analyze data or develop security-specific tools.
  • Participate in the PPS QA process formatting and proofreading business documents.
  • Work with cybersecurity consultants to help reduce client risk through risk and gap assessments on CMMC, ISO 27001, ISO 27701 amp; SOC 2.
  • Observe/participate in network and application penetration testing
  • Blog on information security as you are learning.
  • Attend Sales calls.
  • Attend L10 department planning meetings.
  • Support marketing on special projects as assigned.
  • Special projects based on candidate background and interests.

Examples of Intern Job Responsibilities (training provided):

  • Support operations by working with the team to optimize tools such as MS Teams, CRM, and Wrike.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated interest or experience in information security/cybersecurity through education and/or personal endeavors.

  • Capable of coordinating, scheduling, and note-taking. Ability to manage/negotiate multiple calendars.
  • Effectively and proactively communicates in writing/speech both internally/externally.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • An eye for detail with the ability to proofread documents.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • High energy, drive, achievement orientation.
  • A good sense of humor and the ability to laugh at themselves. (Seriously, this is a must!)
