Job Description

Manufacturing Supervisors lead and direct teams and production employees. Internally called Production Supervisors, Manufacturing Supervisors report to the Manufacturing Manager.

Location: 1401 N. Hobbie Avenue, Kankakee, IL 60901
Manufacturing Supervisor Salary: $65,000 - $85,000, based on experience (Gr. 9)

*Shift flexibility is essential with rotating schedules required


How you’ll contribute to the team:

  • Coach a 8-14 person production crew.
  • Manufacturing Supervisors coordinate production scheduling, safety, maintenance and repair, quality, discipline, attendance, enforcement of plant rules and other related areas in the efficient operations of the facility and assigned employees.
  • Provide direction on production schedules, unscheduled downtime and the efficient utilization of resources.
  • Conduct pre-shift meeting and weekly crew meetings, keeping the team focused on safety, quality and delivery performance.
  • Responsible for maintaining safe and efficient operations and elevate to the Operations Manager and Plant Manager any problems or concerns on meeting performance goals.
  • Manage training, attendance, safety awareness and performance evaluations for your team.
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance activities with maintenance department to maximize up-time.
  • Lead and facilitates trouble shooting of down equipment and process problems.
  • Provide creative leadership in improving operating efficiencies and providing direction to the team on production issues.
  • Communicate and document issues of discipline or policy violations to Human Resources.
  • Enforces plant rules, monitors attendance and provides corrective action as necessary.
  • Prepares production reports and data for management.

Requirements

What you'll bring to the table:

  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience with 2+ years in a leadership or leadership support rol

We'll be excited if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Continuous process type manufacturing experience
  • Experience in cost reduction, production efficiency improvements and continuous improvement activities are also very desirable such as Six Sigma, 5S, TPM, SMED and Standard Work
  • Experience with LEAN manufacturing practices
