Job Description

Armstrong Flooring is adding a Transportation Planner to the team! You will be responsible for proactively facilitating the business unit’s achievement of their transportation service goals. This includes the day to day tactical execution of action items supporting the business unit’s current years’ service plan. As the Transportation Planner, you will be accountable for understanding the business unit’s service goals, shipping requirements, and integrating them into the overall transportation strategy.

Location: Los Angeles, California

Salary: $56k-$65k, based on experience (Grade 7)

How you’ll contribute to the team:

  • Supports effective transportation provider relationships with AFI Corporate Transportation team.
  • Supports Transportation Management System administration for local AFI site as the AFI TMS/SAP Super User.
  • Supports carrier assignment activities and load tendering for assigned location(s), responding to service inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinates with carrier partners daily to secure drop trailers where appropriate, assist with load scheduling to help support needs of the AFI location(s) assigned. and use of transportation systems to perform accurate and timely order/shipment optimization plans.
  • Tactically supports activities to achieve Transportation goals in the areas of Service and Cost Management.
  • Supports regular performance reviews with Transportation vendors along with AFI Corporate Transportation team and represents assigned business unit’s interests.
  • Collaboratively works with Customer Order Service, Finance, Internal Audit, AFI Plant/DC and Corporate Transportation teams.
  • Respond to requests to obtain freight rates originating from both internal and external sources. Provides status updates related to on-time shipment/delivery and follow-up as requested by COS team.
  • Collaborates closely with AFI Distribution Centers amp; third-party warehouses as assigned.
  • Support the business by filing Shipment Loss and Damage Claims with ECIB freight claims service.
  • 10% overnight travel required.

Requirements

What you'll bring to the table:

  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, preferably with a major in Logistics, or Supply Chain.
  • 2 + years of related logistics/supply chain experience including knowledge of the various modes of domestic and international transportation, including but not limited to LTL, truckload, Intermodal, Ocean, Air/Expedited and Small Package.
