This position is responsible for mentoring junior teammates while also being hands-on in development tasks involving internet and intranet sites, microservices, back-end business logic, e-commerce platforms, and various internal applications that use web-enabled technologies.
Essential Functions:
- Designs, builds, and deploys domain-based services.
- Builds robust and scalable systems, services, and tools to handle new products and business requirements.
- Contributes best-practices and architectural leadership to our backend applications and helps to pick the architecture, frameworks, and tooling for our next generation platform.
- Collaborates with product and other teams on functionality, security, reliability, and automation support testing processes and troubleshooting issues and resolve them.
- Maintains and expands functionality for existing products.
- Mentors junior teammates.
- Reviews and organizes all operational documentations and architectural decision records related to the design and use of systems as well as ensures systems compliance with company policies, procedures, and security standards.
- Performs unit, integration, and performance test/analysis of developed software.
- Effectively manages multiple projects and requirements.
- Works closely with other web developers and a production team to design from conception to implementation, websites and related programs.
- Takes ownership of projects, becoming a stakeholder in its release and maintenance.
- Gathers requirements and specifications for projects.
- Attends meetings, daily scrums, sprint and project kick-offs and retrospectives.
- Communicates with team to deliver the best product daily.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, amp; Capabilities:
- Excellent communication skills; honed interpersonal skills are required.
- A strong background in Java Micro service development, ideally with Sprint Boot is required.
- Experience with Messaging Brokering Technologies, such as AWS SQS or Kafka is required.
- Excellent knowledge and experience in architecting and implementing distributed applications and developing RESTful APIs.
- Solid relational database skills including MySQL.
- Experience with NoSQL such as DynamoDB in conjunction with Microservices.
- Experience with memory cache stores, such as Redis and AWS ElastiCache.
- Knowledge and experience with AWS and its cloud-based offerings (Lambda, ECR, EKS, API Gateway).
- Experience with containerization, microservices architecture, CI/CD and automated testing.
- Experience with system documentation.
- Solid experience with source control; Git.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasionally lifts and moves standard office equipment such as computers, monitors, workstations, servers, photocopiers, and printers weighing at least 50 lbs.
Work Environment:
- Professional office environment.
- Occasionally exposed to noise level that is moderate to high.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
Experience:
At least 8+ years of work experience, with 3+ years working with Java in a microservice architecture.
