The Opportunity The Associate Creative Director (Content and Copy) drives overall messaging, copy, and content for Afterpay on owned channels (site, social, emails) and externally for co-marketing campaigns with clients and retail/SMB partners. The role requires close partnership with channel leads to meet marketing, brand, product, and growth objectives, and reports to the Creative Director (Global Content), with a dotted line to the VP of Brand and Creative.
The core responsibilities of this role include: content strategy for owned channel execution; brand storytelling; co-marketing campaign pitches; digital and in-store communications; and refining and driving Afterpay’s brand messaging across all touchpoints with the global creative/content team.
We are much more than our job descriptions, but here’s where you will begin.- Ideates and execute all content and storytelling for NA- Partners with regional marketing team to develop content strategy for all marketing initiatives across all channels-Have and bring to life a deep understanding of the Afterpay customer-Help drive messaging deliverables across all owned channels and co-marketing efforts to deliver fresh, compelling, informed stories about our brand partners and our different Afterpay audiences-Work closely with cross-functional partners (i.e. in-house clients) in product, partner marketing, growth, B2B, and social on their content and copy needs-Work closely with the brand campaign, content and retail creative teams to develop and execute a cross-functional, audience-specific content-Must balance multiple in-house clients and projects, with tight deadlines and often a high volume of work-Must be an agile copywriter and storyteller, with expertise in both short-form and long-form content-Must be able to craft late-breaking, responsive, channel-specific communications that react/respond to cultural moments in a sensitive manner-Help project manager(s) and business partners with copy and content resourcing for creative needs to ensure efficiency and prioritize projects (i.e. be able to delegate swiftly and play to the content/copy team’s respective strengths)-Help develop a high-performing, agile in-house and freelance team of copywriters and content contributors to be best in class-Handle challenging situations with a light touch and optimism-Must have a willingness to embrace change and adapt strategies on the fly

- Ability to execute and strategize to the brief- Ability to take data and insights from different stakeholders and partners to inform content strategy and copy- An authentic enthusiasm for the product, for social media, and for storytelling- Ability to develop decks with other stakeholders that address the team’s strategy and tactics for in-house clients. And partner/clients, too- Ability to generate and present at brainstorming sessions and workshops designed for specific goals, solutions and creative outputsAn openness to giving and receiving constructive criticism, and sharing creative work with the team and different business stakeholders8 to 10 years of editorial content, copywriting, social media and marketing experience6+ years in a senior role, mentoring writers and a team of freelancers
