Job Description

Processing Technician

Summary

Under the direction of the Vice President of Operations, the Processing Technician shall conduct processing of donated human tissue, tissue suitability, and maintain efficient production operations that will enhances and improves lives of others. This person does not supervise others and will support the activities of the processing department and Supervisors.
This position interacts with employees in the Processing Department and may interact with other department supervisors, team leads, and personnel as necessary.


Principle Duties amp; Responsibilities
  • Responsible for processing donated human tissue intended for transplantation.
  • Prepare chemicals and solutions used for processing.
  • Perform in-process quality control functions and enter tracking information into appropriate reports.
  • Complete all documentation associated with tissue processing in accordance with cGMP, cGTP guidelines and America Association of Tissue Banks Standards.
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Provide assistance to support departments, when necessary.
  • Perform laboratory maintenance, which includes, but not limited to, cleaning and disinfecting of equipment and fixtures for the processing rooms, main laboratory, and finish product designated area/location.
  • Maintain processing supply inventory, rotate supplies, check in supplies and restock supplies.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned in laboratory maintenance, quality control, training and research development.
This position will require contact with human tissue, blood, and fluids.
Protective equipment is provided.

Knowledge/Skills required

  • Bachelor degree in a life science is preferred or equivalent education/experience in an allied health care field.
  • Must be able to reason independently and work with minimal guidance.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to coordinate multiple activities.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in compliance through standard operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge and experience in biologics, medical device manufacturing, or cleanroom/aseptic environments a plus.
  • Must be able to adapt to quickly changing priorities and schedules.
  • Basic computer skills are required, such as knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other software as necessary.
  • Must be willing to acquire knowledge of FDA, ISO, AATB, and other regulations, as applicable.
  • Good mechanical aptitude is a plus.
  • Must have excellent manual dexterity and good hand/eye coordination.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs, perform repetitive movements, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Available to work a 7-day schedule or schedule rotation, including nights and weekends, as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $40,000.00 to $50,000.00 /year
