Job Description
We’re a 23-person Google-owned experimental VR game company looking to grow our Owls (employees!) and would love a detail-oriented, self-motivated, and creative person to join us! Owls in this role concept and implement content in game, from initial design to polished execution.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Create and implement content for products, including interactive elements, light dialogue writing, implementing character sequences, and assisting with content-related engineering.
- Assist with content design for marketing, DLC, main games, and other needs
- Incorporate writing and narrative best-practices across multiple products, championing brevity, humor, and accessibility
- Collaborate with owls like Engineering, Art, Audio, and Production to meet task goals and determine content requirements
- Anticipate and communicate risks areas throughout the project’s life cycle
- Keep up to date on the latest in technology for Unity and VR
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Working Unity 3D knowledge
- Game design fundamentals
- Understand the impact Virtual Reality has on games and experience design
- Write clear and well-structured code using the appropriate data structure and algorithms while bearing in mind performance, maintenance, and architectural requirements.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 2-3 years working in a technical environment
- Professional (or shipped) experience working in the Unity game engine
Preferred Education and Experience:
- At least one shipped product
- Appreciation of puns (or at least the ability to groan at them)
Physical Requirements:
- This is an office job, so be prepared for prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer. However, all Owls are provided with various ergonomic options.
- Owls must be able to use virtual reality headsets but are not expected to own one.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, 40-hours per week position. Core hours of work are Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Although this position is anticipated to be Work from Home through the Summer of 2021, newly hired Owls will be required to establish Texas residency within 60 days of hire.
Travel:
No travel is expected for this position; though we typically encourage owls to attend a conference annually for personal growth and development.
