Job Description

Responsible for the overall development and administration of a comprehensive and integrated risk management program for Pyramid Health, including inpatient facilities, outpatient and all clinical practice locations. The program will incorporate risk management education and consultation, the identification of risks and the implementation of risk mitigation strategies including medical professional claims control and loss prevention, and policy and procedure development based on organizational, local, state, federal, and regulatory standards. The position reports directly to General Counsel.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor and track all existing claims and potential claims in conjunction with General Counsel.
  • Serve as Company point-of-contact for and maintain relationships with the Company’s insurance carriers and brokers.
  • Coordinate regular claim case review meetings between General Counsel, insurance carriers, and brokers.
  • Notify the Company’s liability carriers and third-party administrators of potential new claims and lawsuits and assist in the defense of the same.
  • In conjunction with General Counsel and the Chief Compliance Officer, gather all necessary information to prepare for the defense of claims and coordinate the effective exchange of information with government authorities, liability carriers, third party administrators, and outside legal counsel.
  • Participate in evaluating claims for settlement and assist with the resolution of claims.
  • Interact with General Counsel to coordinate the defense of claims against the Company and its employees.
  • Verify responses to complaints, interrogatories, and requests for documents.
  • Assist General Counsel in preparing Company employees for depositions and attend same as the Company’s representative, as necessary.
  • Assist General Counsel in preparing witnesses/defendants scheduled to give testimony and attend proceedings as the Company’s representative, as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or related field preferred.
  • Five years of related experience performing legal, risk, or patient safety activities is required.
  • Behavioral Health experience preferred.
  • Health System experience preferred.
  • Insurance claims experience preferred.
