Job Description

The Cash team is responsible for PayJoy's two end-user products: PayJoy Cash and PayJoy Shrink Wrap. Both apps enable a completely self-serve loan application process for personal loans (Cash) and phone financing (Shrink Wrap). As there is no sales clerk around to provide support during the application process we have a strong focus on user experience and ease of use.
Cash was launched in 2020 and is growing quickly. Shrink Wrap is still in the pilot phase - with some neat potential before it. We have a lot of exciting work ahead of us and are looking for Full Stack engineers at all levels of experience.
The success of our apps depend on our ability to translate a highly technical and at times daunting process into a smooth and hiccup free experience for the end user. As an experienced tester, you’ve led the quality efforts for many projects through many product cycles. You are comfortable creating and executing test plans, getting input from developers, advocating for the customer experience, as well as gathering and triaging issue reports from the field. You are a skilled collaborator, knowing how to be an effective partner to engineers, PMs, and managers across the company.

Our team, like many others, has been working remotely (and successfully!) for over a year. Even pre-COVID our Boston-based team worked closely with our Sales and Operations teams in Mexico, as well as our Engineering and Product colleagues in San Francisco. Earlier this year we made the decision to continue working as a fully-remote team even after COVID concerns have subsided. We now have team members in Las Vegas, Mexico City, and Boston - and are actively hiring anywhere in the US and Mexico. If this work-from-anywhere setup interests you, we'd love to talk!
Responsibilities
- Define and execute manual test plans for Android apps
- You have a knack for breaking things - finding bugs, security exploits, and UX failures that others have missed
- Exercise great judgment; you know what to prioritize in testing and what can be deferred
- Collaborate with engineers and leaders across the company
- Give great feedback to your colleagues so your team can continually improve
Requirements
- 4+ years of quality assurance or test engineering experience
- 2+ years of experience testing Android Applications
- Experience troubleshooting and reproducing issues with customers and other Support teams.
- Hands-on experience with the test lifecycle: planning, design, performance, and stress testing
- Great communication skills. Since many of our customers are in Mexico, Spanish language skills would be a plus but are not required
