Job Description

Polaris Spine amp; Neurosurgery Center is a premier neurosurgery practice located in Sandy Springs and Smyrna in Atlanta, Georgia. It’s been Atlanta’s premier center for spine care for over 40 years. Their neurosurgeons and non-operative spine specialists offer premium care with a personal touch across the full spectrum of brain and spine care needs.


We are looking for a skilled Certified Surgical Technician (CST) to work in our state-of-the-art spine ambulatory surgery center on a temporary assignment.

Dates: June 21 - September 24

Days: Tues - Thurs, with the possibility of additional shifts on Mon and Fri.

Hours: 5:20a - 1:30p Tues/Thurs. 7a - 3p Wed. Hours may vary week-to-week depending on caseload.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plans for and obtains the equipment and supplies needed for assigned procedures according to physicians' preference and specific patient needs.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies according to manufacturer's recommendations and specifications for uses during surgical procedures. This also includes sterile processing of implant trays from outside reps.
  • Monitors sterile field during procedure and takes appropriate measures to insure integrity of sterile field.
  • Maintains accountability for instruments according to policy throughout the surgical procedure.
  • Assists team with safe and appropriate operating room turnover times. Provides support as needed to members of the surgical team.
  • Promotes a safe environment. Takes appropriate action in emergency situations, being aware of and controlling hazards which may endanger patients, visitors, and employees. Identifies and reports environmental concerns to the management team.
  • Completes assigned support duties before and after procedures.
  • Follows all facility policies and procedures and OSHA guidelines.

Requirements

  • Must have graduated from an approved Surgical Technology program
  • Must have a current Surgical Technician Certificate (CST)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in ortho and spine implant cases. Experience in pain management and robotic surgery a huge plus.
  • Previous work coordinating with Product Reps on Implant Trays and processing
  • Experience with sterile processing of trays
  • BLS - American Heart Association - required
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time during procedures and wear radiation safety aprons
