Job Description
We are seeking a talented individual who will be part of the Cloud Analytics team, supporting the Tableau environment, content, and internal amp; external customers. The team is focused on enabling self-service reporting amp; data visualization, and helping our customers deliver value through data. As a Senior Tableau Developer, you will:
- Work with business partners to gather and develop analytics/reporting requirements and build Tableau visualizations and workbooks that are streamlined yet dazzle the user
- Define data requirements, create/modify database views, and implement reporting in Tableau
- Performing and documenting data analysis, data validation, and data mapping/design
- Conducting unit tests and developing database queries to analyze the effects and troubleshoot any issues
- Embed visualizations in web application via Tableau embedded
- Integrate Tableau functions with portal web application
- Create and edit SQL queries within Tableau to build calculated fields
- Create interactive filters, parameters and calculations for preparing dashboards and worksheets in Tableau
- Build and publish interactive dashboards on Tableau Server
- Establish, communicate, and drive best practices for Tableau, and help ensure standards are being met
- Apply broad technical knowledge, judgement and analytical skills to analyze, develop and implement solutions for process improvements, troubleshooting, and production support related to Tableau
- Conduct performance tuning for Tableau and SQL views
- Hands on with Tableau Desktop (dashboard creation, report authoring and troubleshooting, data source management)
Requirements
You have at least 7 years of Tableau development and data processing experience with a successful track record of delivering projects on time (minimum two projects or major code releases delivered start to finish). You have demonstrated experience in creating workbooks that perform well when consumed and pushed to Tableau Server. Methodical, detail oriented, and well organized, you are results driven with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, and you excel at time management. You are eager to learn new technologies to improve data and engineering processes.
The following skills are required:
- Advanced knowledge of Tableau certification desired
- Significant experience with Tableau embedded
- Strong development skills in Tableau and data analytics and visualizations
- Ability to use scripting languages to leverage Tableau’s APIs (JavaScript API, Data Extract API, REST API).
- Deep Knowledge of Tableau Server best practices for scalability, performance, content management and governance
- Experience working with Amazon Athena for querying JSON data stored in S3
- Strong SQL query skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment
- Have the confidence to work cross-functionally with various departments including business stakeholders and technical personnel to exchange ideas.
- Familiarity with configuring Tableau Server
- Familiarity with AWS services, Web Applications, Cloud and Cyber Security Technologies
