Job Description

We’re looking for an expert in usability research who can lead primary and secondary research to inform and evaluate digital health products all with the ultimate goal of creating engaging health communication products that empower people to take charge of their health. Apply your advanced knowledge in UX and human-centered design to guide interdisciplinary teams in developing intuitive products that help further CommunicateHealth’s mission: to improve lives by designing health information that’s easy to understand and use.

Focus Areas

Usability Research

  • Sets research strategy for complex, multifaceted projects
  • Identifies innovative methods and techniques to answer research questions
  • Conducts UX research tasks ranging from heuristic reviews and web analytics analysis to card sorting and usability testing
  • Conducts qualitative and quantitative data analysis summarizing key themes, narrating findings, and making specific recommendations on information architecture, user interaction, and content strategy
  • Drafts client-facing reports and other deliverables that are clear and concise

Product Consulting

  • Supports the development of easy-to-use digital products, defining product requirements based on client feedback and research findings
  • Consults on and approves product improvement recommendations, ensuring they align with client strategy and usability best practices

Leadership

  • Proactively identifies gaps in processes that impact larger projects or teams, and refines or develops new processes and templates when needed
  • Supervises, mentors, and coaches staff
  • Trains project teams on human-centered design and usability best practices
  • Establishes and oversees study schedules and timelines

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex UX research projects and guiding teams to build easy-to-use products
  • Advanced knowledge in UX research methods and usability best practices and understanding of UX design principles
  • Expertise in using analytical tools to evaluate digital products (e.g., Sprout social, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics)
  • Excellent communication skills, including thoughtful listening, the ability to express complex ideas clearly and succinctly, and the ability to communicate well in writing
  • Master’s degree in a related field such as human-computer interaction, information design, consumer health informatics, or other related discipline

We are willing to train on

  • Federal plain language guidelines and Section 508 compliance
  • Institutional Review Board, Office of Management and Budget Paperwork Reduction Act, and other government research clearance processes
