Job Summary: Concord Group Insurance is seeking a Lead Business Systems Analyst with strong technical abilities and people management skills. As a Business Services Lead, you will oversee a small team of Business Systems Analysts, driving strategic software development and database projects instrumental to the success of the company. Team leads are responsible for setting priorities, providing guidance and mentoring junior team members. In this role you will assist in the training and deployment of new systems implementations and act as a continuing liaison between departments and IT. You will also work in coordination with other leads and management to set the direction of our business services group.

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Business Services Manager in the management and direction setting for the company’s business services group including interface, coordination and reporting of pertinent activities
  • Responsible for the daily activities of assigned Business Systems Analysts
  • Provide leadership to the business services group and the company, including being conversant with the future direction of the company and how that direction may have an immediate impact on systems related projects
  • Advocate and enforces adherence to the software development process functional requirements
  • Form detailed process flows to show processing logic for multiple and complex business processes
  • Function as a project manager as required
  • Interface in all aspects of user consulting, business analysis, general systems design, vendor contracts and detail business specification development; learn user functions, organization and role in the enterprise to the extent required
  • Within the IT organization, maintain routine contact with systems and programming personnel; develops and maintains a close working relationship with internal mid-level managers using IT services.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the development of short and long range plans; collects, interprets, and prepares data for studies, reports and recommendations; coordinates activities with other departments and agencies as needed
  • Furnish professional advice to manager and department head; makes presentations to committees, task forces and other groups as needed
  • When functioning as project manager, insure that assigned areas of responsibility are performed within budget; perform cost control activities; monitor revenues and expenditures in assigned area to assure sound fiscal control; prepare budget requests; assure effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time
  • Instruct and train business analysts in technical aspects of the functions of analysis and project management
  • Interact with external software vendors as required to support acquired business applications, providing for the definition and resolution of technical and procedural problems and the adaptation and maintenance of the applications and systems
  • Handle a variety of operations/production problems requiring judgment within generally defined policies and procedures; assesses priorities and exercises judgment in implementing corrections

Requirements

Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum five years of experience in a similar environment, including two years demonstrated supervisory experience
  • Property amp; Casualty Insurance experience strongly desired, but not required
  • Knowledge of various business application systems, hardware and familiar with current programming technologies
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office suite of products, current internet browsers, e-mail and business applications in a networked environment
  • Ability to interface and communicate effectively with non-technical personnel, as well as professional Information Technology staff. Must possess analytical skills, good oral and written communication skills, and good telephone technique, be a quick learner, sel
