This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a forming Direct to Consumer/eCommerce organization at a rapidly growing company in a skyrocketing, new wellness sector.
We are a small team and we’ve inherited a highly customized and complex Magento installation. We’re looking for a backend developer who can help us take our stack to the next level. This is a full time, in-office position, based in Portland, OR. We are currently working remotely but we are transitioning back to full time in the office (you must be able to commute to our office in Northeast Portland). This position reports to the tech lead.

Job responsibilities
- Build new features for Magento with object oriented PHP
- Build a custom API proxy between Magento and a decoupled front end
- Track down and solve elusive bugs
- Add API endpoints to our Magento codebase
- Audit existing and 3rd party code with an eye on security
- Improve deployment pipeline (automate, reduce downtime, ensure easy rollbacks)
- Implement automated tests
- Optimize performance
Requirements
Experience
- Multiple backend languages (preferably one of them is Object Oriented PHP)
- Writing custom APIs from scratch
- Implementing authentication with security best practices
- Bash scripting
- Working with containers
- MySQL
- Test Driven Development
Bonus points
- Magento
- Ansible / Jenkins / Bitbucket Pipelines
- AWS - can set up a full VPC
- You can work on the front end as well
