This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a forming Direct to Consumer/eCommerce organization at a rapidly growing company in a skyrocketing, new wellness sector.
We are a small team and we’ve inherited a highly customized and complex Magento installation. We’re looking for a backend Magento expert who can help us take Magento to the next level. This is a full time, in-office position, based in Portland, OR. We are currently working remotely but we are transitioning back to full time in the office (you must be able to commute to our office in Northeast Portland). This position reports to the tech lead.

Requirements
Job responsibilities
- Create custom Magento modules from scratch to meet business requirements
- Modify existing 3rd party modules (add features, fix bugs, create API endpoints)
- Override Magento core functionality to fix bugs and meet business requirements
- Clean up code and improve maintainability
- Audit existing and 3rd party code with an eye on security
- Improve deployment pipeline (automate, reduce downtime, ensure easy rollbacks)
- Implement automated tests
- Optimize performance
Experience
- Magento 2 backend
- Strong OOP PHP skills
- Good with MySQL
- Understanding of Composer
- Experience with AWS
- Experience with Magento in containers
- Experience with at least one other backend language
Bonus points
- You’ve built a custom backend API
- You’ve built out a fully fledged authentication server following security best practices
- You can work on the front end as well
