Job Description
Chaucer America is seeking an IT Project Manager with at least 5-8 years of professional consulting experience in the life sciences, pharma or healthcare industry and with a strong focus on data, strategy and systems development.
This role will typically support the design, development and maintenance of systems and processes that underpin both the R amp; D and G amp; A functions of a client organization.
You will have a strong understanding of the inner workings of both large pharmaceuticals and small to medium sized biotechs.
You should be able to demonstrate a strong ability to both lead and manage teams of contractors and consultants but also have a hands on style and approach to your work. You should be customer and client focus and have extensive experience working with business stakeholders and customers to drive solutions to existing problems while being proactive in identifying gaps within the business and identifying solutions. Your responsibilities might include, but are not limited to:
- Managing and maintaining both adhoc and existing systems, acting as a point of contact for the business to understand improvements and/or changes required to the system
- Working with and facilitating internal stakeholders to gather and develop requirements for future and existing systems whether built in house or through a vendor
- Designing and implementing business processes to support both Ramp;D and Business Functions
- Improving and streamlining existing processes utilizing lean and six sigma concepts
- Developing reports and dashboards for leadership utilizing visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau and Qliksense
- Developing ad hoc tools/systems to support processes using commonly available software and scripting languages i.e. MS Office Suite of tools (VBA), Smartsheet, SQL Databases, Python (where applicable), Web (Java), Sharepoint, Teams etc.
- Project Managing Data and IT projects utilizing Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Conducting market and industry analysis on system and tools to meet business needs
- Developing business cases to support proposed systems or programs of work needed by the functions
- Creating/scripting data workflows (ETL) to support systems and ad hoc tools
- Working with Strategy, Planning and Systems leaders and internal functional leaders to develop and maintain functional strategies

Requirements
You must have US work authorization and live within reasonable commute of Cambridge, MA, and possess:
- At least 5-8 years of consulting experience in the life sciences, pharma or healthcare industry with a strong focus on data, strategy and systems development
- A strong understanding of drug development and the business processes and systems that underpin drug development and pharmaceutical companies
- Excellent written and communication skills with a proficiency in producing presentations for leadership utilizing visualizations and graphical content
- Direct experience in leading systems development and implementation projects utilizing both agile (Safe, Scrum etc.) and waterfall (PMP, Prince2) methodologies
- Direct experience in project management and change management across multiple disciplines e.g. process, systems, strategy
- Certified in one or both agile and waterfall methodologies
- Excellent stakeholder management skills. Demonstrated ability to translate requirements between a scientific community and an operations/IT community.
- Excellent attention to detail, documentation skills. Ability to work under pressure, in ambiguous and fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong experience in data engineering (data ingestion, data cleansing and transformation, data load, API management etc. all aspects of ETL) and dashboard development in a biotech/pharma environment
- Strong analytical, problem solving and risk assessment skills.
- Experience in building databases in cloud platforms e.g. AWS, Azure to support adhoc tools/systems
- Strong understanding of the MS Office suite and technical competency in Excel, Powerpoint, Vizio alongside coding experience in VBA, Python and at least one DB language (SQL Preferred) with any web development or sharepoint development experience as a plus
- Experience in developing strategy and translating strategy into tangible work
- Experience in process design and continuous improvement methodologies (process improvement qualification i.e Six Sigma preferred but not necessary as long as the candidate can demonstrate an understanding)
- High sense of urgency and demonstrated ability to deliver results and identify and drive process improvements.
