Job Description

The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Junior Commercial Credit Analyst role in the Chicago, IL market. The successful candidate will be responsible for calling on customers when requested, developing and analyzing all types of credit information pertaining to diversified types of commercial loans, prepares credit reports for loan officers or committee. The candidate will also maintain control over credit requirements of current accounts and provide any other assistance to loan officers as requested.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $66K along with an excellent benefits package.

Junior Commercial Credit Analyst responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing all pertinent credit and financial information, including reporting services, credit bureaus, internal bank files, and other financial institutions.
  • Developing credit information for use by lending officers or committees in making lending decisions on new, renewal, and extension loans.
  • Analyzing and prepares all spreadsheets and financial information.
  • Analyzing financial statements and related material.
  • Determining the need for a more thorough investigation or additional information and contacts appropriate sources for such information.
  • Preparing summaries, presenting facts, and offering opinions concerning credit worthiness to loan officers or committees.
  • Maintaining and assists in the tracking of file information as it relates to the credit, including financial statements, ret rolls, tax returns, etc.
  • Helping loan officers and others in establishing and maintaining the proper documents relating to the perfection of the bank’s lien position on loans secured by various collateral.
  • Reviewing all credit, loan, and collateral files to ensure that information is current and reports any discrepancies to the loan officers.
  • Monitoring files to assure that current financial statements, accounts receivable aging, and other items are available for all customers requiring such information.
  • Maintains credit files by setting up new files and updating existing files.
  • Performing related duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in finance, communication, accounting, or business administration.
  • Two or more years’ experience in banking or financial services with an emphasis on lending, credit analysis, and documentation preferred.
  • Keep current on all relevant compliance issues.
  • Familiarity with financial statement spreading software such as Jack Henry SilverLake is beneficial.
  • Practical working knowledge of financial statement analysis.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state banking regulations.
  • Must possess attention to detail, accuracy in work performed, and can multi-task while maintaining focus.
  • Strong Analytical, math, and problem-solving skills.
