The Company

Littera Education launched in the fall of 2020 with a simple idea: all students deserve high-quality tutoring support to help them achieve their academic potential. The mission of our funded and growing K12 education SaaS startup is to enable equitable, high-quality, and cost-effective district managed tutoring for school districts of all sizes.

We support the delivery of individual and small-group sessions and leverage the data, curriculum, and technology that districts already use. By integrating with schools’ existing tech infrastructure and instructional tools we will enable school districts and other student-serving organizations to provide equitable access to high quality, flexible, and targeted student support.

The Job

As the company's initial sales leader, you will build and lead Littera’s Sales function. Reporting to our experienced Chief Revenue Officer, you will drive our sales strategy and execution to ensure that Littera realizes its growth potential.


Key to success in this role will be hiring and ramping a brand new sales team. As a new company, and a product in beta, we expect that Littera's new sales leader will be front and center in bringing in other talented sales professionals into our organization.


We are looking for someone who has demonstrated success in K-12 education technology sales and success in managing a K-12 education technology sales team. Experience in K-12 education technology district sales is paramount to this role and the ideal candidate will have extensive experience in navigating K-12 education technology buying processes.


As part of a small team, the ideal candidate will initially take on a player/coach role, getting deeply engaged in existing sales opportunities, while also building the sales processes, models and infrastructure to scale a much larger sales organization.

Requirements

You will:

  • Develop sales hiring strategy to ensure Littera can scale its sales organization as we grow
  • Own the sales target and bookings plan and be the steward of sales projections and planning for the executive leadership team
  • Work with other executive team members as we collectively:
    • Design the coverage model, territory plan, demand generation coverage metrics and sales onboarding plans
    • Guide Littera’s go forward compensation and commission model for new sales team
    • Validate and shape Littera’s market message and positioning
  • Develop a deep understanding of customers’ tutoring buying requirements and processes so that the company can build towards repeatable sales process
  • Invest in understanding tutoring market dynamics, competitors for Littera and their sales tactics
  • Provide feedback to the product organization on customer needs and feature enhancements.

As an early member of the Littera team, you’ll need to balance strategy with an ability and willingness to get into the details. We are also looking for someone who will constantly be looking to improve our sales strategy, execution and performance.

  • Mission-driven - you are passionate about education and the mission to help all students get the academic support they need, and you are driven by helping districts achieve their goals of student academic success.
  • Expert Level Sales Experience - you have been a key contributor to the early stage sales success of a new organization or product line
  • A clear communicator - you are able to lead a sales engagement with prospects, partners and customers
  • Hands-on - you will be joining a small team that is out to build something big. Prior startup experience is a plus.
  • Organized- you will be managing multiple priorities, and it’s important you can manage the needs and deadlines of them all.
  • Creative- you are able to come up with plans A,B,C and even M if needed, and are flexible enough to change course when needed.


Desired Qualifications

  • BA/BS with 5+ years of experience in education technology sales to K-12 market
  • Experience hiring and ramping a high growth sales team
  • Experience in sales data management, including pipeline reviews and sales bookings projections
  • Experience managing and executing internal sales processes including hiring, onboarding and ongoing training
  • Excellent leader with the ability to roll up their sleeves and build a great company
  • Ability to collaborate cross functionally with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication
