The Role

Xos is seeking an experienced individual for the position of Director, Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance. In this role you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing internal controls per the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. We are seeking a highly driven person with a track record of success in implementing compliance initiatives and leading SOX risk assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Design a comprehensive risk, compliance and controls framework which includes identification and assessment of risks, appropriate controls, and required policies, procedures and documentation and ensure that robust monitoring and reporting is in place at all required levels within the Company.
  • Communicate and instill a controls-based culture across the Company.
  • Perform periodic compliance risk testing and review of documented controls and determine where improvements can be made.
  • Manage and implement a company-wide improvement plan to address any identified weaknesses.
  • Develop, maintain, and update key internal operational policies and procedures with a focus on ensuring required controls are documented and revised as needed.
  • Execute company-wide IT risk assessments to ensure appropriate scoping and risk mitigation and support the company’s integrated internal control environment.
  • Prepare and present written reports for internal departments and senior management that address all findings, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Identify any additional training, guidance or consultation needed to improve or implement controls based on testing results.
  • Partner and coordinate effectively with external auditor, stakeholders and other third parties to plan and execute control reviews, process walk-throughs, and conduct any internal investigations as they arise.
  • Support teams to successfully meet audit requests.
  • Support and execute operational audits and internal audit projects at the direction of Chief Financial Officer as needed.
  • Develop strong working relationships with all stakeholders, such as executive management, IT professionals, and internal and external auditors.
  • Regularly and effectively communicate with key stakeholders describing the plan and implementation of compliance initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, IT or related field
  • Solid understanding of SOX testing methodologies, risk assessment practices, and the COBIT, COSO, and NIST frameworks
  • CPA, CISA, or PMP is a plus
  • 8+ years of related or consulting experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Sense of urgency, with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Experience in a start-up and/or hyper-growth company
