This position is accountable for the quality and timely management of the company’s data and the development of data applications under the Technology Manager’s direction. The incumbent will work closely with our Business Unit (BU) and Support Unit (SU) personnel, to assure that the data pertinent to our business and the company is captured accurately and timely within our database, and that the various constituent’s data and information needs are met. He/she will work closely with our BU and SU personnel, and with outside developers, to create and maintain applications that best support our company’s’ internal processes.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Collaborate with Insurance and Reinsurance BU’s and SU’s on processes and business requirements to assure compatibility between our business requirements and company data. Advise BU’s and SU’s of data or database issues
- Develop database applications, working closely with our process owners and process experts and using outside contractors as may be agreed upon from time to time to meet application development targets.
- Serve as the company’s primary resource for database structure, data definitions, data issues, and report generation
- Collaborate with the Technology Manager and developers to develop and modify the company’s database and related applications to support our processes and meet our business requirements
- Serve as the company’s data and database expert. Create and maintain database data dictionaries with explicit and clear descriptions of each data element within the database and make it available to all who may use database data
- Work with the Underwriting Data Analyst to understand administrators’ data. Extract, transform and load (ETL) the data received from administrators into the company’s database
Requirements
- Prior experience in a database management role
- Experience with Microsoft SQL, including SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Proficiency writing SQL queries
- Proficiency in creating applications utilizing Visual Studio (VB/C#.net)
- Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) experience
- Project management experience preferred
