AAG is a small private all girls American based school located in a quiet residential area of Salwa, Kuwait. We are hiring an overseas School Librarian for the new school year 2021-2022. The following are the major job responsibilities. We are seeking an experienced School Librarian who has a degree in Library Sciences and or School Media Specialist. A generous overseas package is offered to those from the US, Canada and UK.
- To manage and be in charge of the library and supervise students and teachers at all times. Oversee train and manage Library Assistant.
- To create an environment that is conducive to active and participatory learning, resource-based instructional practices, and collaboration with teaching staff.
- Conduct instructional library classes for KG2 - 4th graders on a rotating and daily basis.
- Organize a Summer Reading Program for Elementary and Middle School students.
- Implement/Instruct a class for MS/HS students on how to research and cite information.
- To carry out regular maintenance of library stock including withdrawals and stock replacement to maintain a relevant collection.
- To promote, advertise, and assist with student coordination of school 'Book Fairs' during the school year.
- To carry out classification and cataloging of resources using the Follett Destiny Library Management System, and supervising labeling, protection, display and shelving of library materials.
- Responsible for the Library hallway bulletin board which promotes Literacy and current themes.
- To maintain a good knowledge and understanding of current and classic fiction and non-fiction materials in regards to the Ministry of Education's censorship guidelines.
- Effectively manage the overdue system. Liaise with the Registrar and Accountant to ensure books are returned from students who are leaving the school and/or charged for fines/replacement in a timely manner.
- Responsible for checking all textbooks and future textbook purchases have been censored. Ensuring one copy of each censored textbook and novel remain in the library closet at all times. Make sure they remain together in one central location.
- To provide suitable enrichment activities (e.g. homework club/games, tech clubs, after-school clubs, etc. to all students)
- Create and implement in conjunction with the Principals a Parent/Student Home/Based Reading program.
- To promote and coordinate with Principals: TumbleBooks, Raz Kids, Reading A-Z, Accelerator Readers, Lego, etc., reading programs.
- Conduct Professional Developments for staff on information such as Robotics, Lego Land, Programming, Coding, Technology integration into curriculum/lesson plans, how to uses various apps, software, Google Meets training, proctoring MAP testing, and/or any electronic/technological information needed.
