The Lubetzky Family Foundation (LFF), created by KIND Snacks founder Daniel Lubetzky, is dedicated to finding creative solutions to society’s greatest challenges. LFF focuses on fostering empathy and critical thinking, supporting the foundations of democracy, and cultivating civil dialogue.

LFF is ramping up to launch a signature initiative rooted in the belief that skills such as empathetic listening, critical thinking, nuanced conversation and collaborative bridge-building are antidotes to the polarization and dehumanization sweeping our nation. Over time, we hope to empower millions of Americans to relate with empathy and respect; deliberate with curiosity and humility; collaborate across difference for maximum impact; and liberate their minds from extreme and one-sided thinking.

What you’ll do

One pillar of the program will be a grants program to invest in people and projects that demonstrate the skills and values of radical moderation. The program is still in the early stages of development. As the primary grants professional on the team, you will be responsible for operationalizing the grants program to help it achieve its mission and objectives. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for creating and implementing the necessary infrastructure, policies, and procedures in place to execute an impactful grants program. You will lead all aspects of the grants lifecycle, running the day-to-day operations for the program and representing the organization as the primary contact for grant applicants and recipients.

To find success in this role, you will:

  • Develop and execute a plan to operationalize this new grants program
  • Partner with the program team to ensure alignment between the grants program and overall mission and vision for the initiative
  • Establish and manage the administration of the grants management databases including design, maintenance and oversight of workflow processes and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient collection and reporting of grant data
  • Evaluate and recommend the necessary resources and tools for grants management
  • Develop and manage the reporting process for grantees
  • Lead grants operations and compliance; conduct operational and financial due diligence with grants recipients by identifying and mitigating risks
  • Serve as the primary source of contact for grants applicants and recipients
  • Partner with the Partnerships Director to communicate program updates and milestones to key stakeholders
  • Partner with the Finance team to create and implement a grants approval and payment authorization process

You have:

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in an operational grants-making role
  • Expertise and experience in foundation-based grants-making with a strong understanding of best in class process and procedure for grants programs
  • Superb interpersonal skills with a comfort working across diverse teams and handling senior leaders and use good judgement to resolve issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility and ability to learn and develop new skills on the job
