You know and love BrainPOP’s fun and engaging educational movies. Now here’s an opportunity to write and edit the content that supports the movie, including quizzes, graphic organizers, worksheets, and more. Please note that this is a contract role.

In this role, you will:

  • Write and edit educational content for elementary and middle school, such as leveled quizzes, worksheets, graphic organizers, related readings, and other interactive features in all subjects (e.g. Social Studies, Science, Math, Health and SEL, Engineering and Tech, and Arts and Music)
  • Review and edit the work of third-party contractors, and ensure content supports robust pedagogical practices and grade-appropriate learning goals, and aligns with BrainPOP’s unique voice
  • Collaborate with content designers, learning designers, and other creators to brainstorm ideas for grade-appropriate content and provide constructive feedback through peer-editing
  • Provide feedback and improve learning and teaching experiences on BrainPOP, with a focus on content design
  • Research and align content with CCSS and NGSS standards

You are:

  • Passionate about driving change in education and delivering engaging, grade-appropriate content
  • Able to explain complex concepts in simple, easy-to-understand ways
  • Skilled in prompting critical thought in K-8 students
  • A strong, efficient writer and editor with an ear for tone, style, and humor
  • A critical, supportive, and collaborative editor
  • Able to quickly research and learn unfamiliar subjects across different academic areas
  • Understanding of different teacher and student needs in the classroom
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work with changing deadlines

On your resume:

  • 4-5 years of experience in writing and editing
  • Experience developing curriculum materials for elementary and middle school students
  • Understanding of STEM, and NGSS, and Common Core standards
  • Experience writing content for grade 4-8

Bonus points!

  • Teaching experience
  • Experience in instructional design
  • Published writing samples (preferably in the realm of educational materials and assessments)
