SEARCH focuses on the full spectrum of cultural services related to Archaeology, Maritime Archaeology, Architectural History, History, Archives, Collections Management, Museum Services, GIS, Documentary Media, and Public Affairs. SEARCH’s staff of 200 employees work from 20 US and Guam offices to conduct 300 projects per year and deploy 20 or more field teams per week; SEARCH has the immediate capacity to exceed client and compliance requirements especially in regard to critical deadlines, high-profile missions, and remote deployments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the highest professional image for our clients, co-workers, media, and general public;
  • Conduct and/or direct architectural history research and fieldwork efforts for surveys and projects;
  • Produce high-quality technical writing for professional reports and deliverables, in whole or part;
  • Conduct peer review and critical analysis and commentary for quality control of technical reports and deliverables;
  • Respond to client needs and requests for cultural resource support or information (desktop reviews, compliance support and consultation advice);
  • Seek out future project opportunities and prepare or support development of technical and cost proposals;
  • Maintain the highest professional image for our clients, coworkers, media, and general public; and
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, or related field (i.e. meets Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standardsfor Architectural History).
  • Minimum five (5) years of Architectural Historian job experience;
  • Experience in cultural resource management and the preparation of deliverables for clients;
  • Experience with a variety of cultural resource management work (field survey, National Register of Historic Places eligibility evaluations and nominations, HABS/HAER/HALS documentation, Section 106 consultation support, etc.) in a variety of market sectors (federal, energy, transportation) is preferred;
  • Strong field and outdoors skill set and the ability to work in physically demanding environments;
  • Organization, attention to detail, and ability to work well on simultaneous tasks while meeting project deadlines;
  • Ability to work and network independently;
  • Superior technical writing skillset to produce high-quality technical reports; and
  • Excellent written and oral communicatio
