Be part of our mission to disrupt healthcare and democratize the data driven medicine! SOPHiA is looking for a Senior Director, Alliance Management to join the Business Development team at our Boston site in the United States.

Reporting to the VP of Business Development, you will be responsible for actively managing and optimizing the value of the relationship between SOPHiA and a broad array of corporate partners. This position interacts regularly with SOPHiA leadership across a range of functions to drive agreed initiatives forward, as well as with key contacts at various corporate partners. This position oversees the governance of key strategic relationships including governance committees and working group meetings and will be the primary internal source of information on the partnership.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized individual who is also a strategic thinker that does not need to operate linearly and can think outside the box to execute win-win partnerships. The Senior Director, Alliance Management will have end-to-end responsibility for managing key partnerships, which includes strategies, business process, workflows, project management, and relationship management capabilities. The role will focus on delivering results by setting clear goals and making things happen by collaborating and influencing cross-functional teams -- internally and externally.


Your Main Tasks Will Be:

  • Plan and manage the operational aspects of the alliance, including joint governance committee, ensuring alliance effectiveness, appropriate communications, coordination of activities, handling partner concerns, solving business problems, and negotiating with the partner on ongoing agreements
  • Build strong relationships with alliance management counterparts, collaboration team members, and SOPHiA steerco members; Proactively keep them abreast of issues that require their guidance or intervention
  • Work closely with the Business, Technology, Commercial / Operations, Finance, Legal and Medical teams to build and prioritize partnership needs, in support of the Company’s strategy
  • Strong EQ and ability to identify the cultural differences between SOPHiA and our collaboration partner; With this lens help optimize the relationship by providing options for consideration in ways of working together in an effective manner
  • Proactively identify misalignment and initiate solutions to resolve and/or appropriately escalate unresolved issues for information or intervention
  • Partner with leadership to gain internal conviction and champion new opportunities
  • Collaborate with Business Development for up-and-coming programs to ensure and monitor achievement of aligned goals as well as identify further areas of expansion
  • Represent SOPHiA to partners externally and develop targeted material for presentations, including company and product overviews, and overview of business priorities
  • Develop and implement internal tools, systems, processes, and standard methodologies that help us make better decisions and track the partnership evolution
  • Proactively monitors the economic value of each assigned collaboration
  • Works with project teams and alliance partners to evaluate and resolve any business/contractual issues in an equitable and timely manner, helping to ensure the overall value and success of each project and that the spirit of each collaboration agreement is kept intact
  • Performs periodic alliance health checks and negotiates through alliance related issues
  • Stays abreast of internal and external developments, trends and dynamics; Regularly evaluates current and future opportunities within current alliances/collaborators; identifies new, enhanced or revised capabilities as appropriate
  • Benchmarks with industry and formulates continuous improvement plans to maximize partnership value

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience within Life Sciences, Diagnostics, Health Technology, Genomics, or other Healthcare related fields
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in alliance management leveraging the required skill sets to successfully collaborate with key healthcare partners
  • BA or BS required; MBA preferred
  • Demonstrable abilities to translate contract terms and conditions into strategic and operational elements for both internal and external parties.
  • Strong program / project management: comfort managing projects with numerous ongoing work streams involving a wide range of stakeholders - both internal and external
  • Understanding of the data driven medicine industry; strong interest in increasing the usage of AI and ML applications within healthcare; Many strong connections across the industry
