An Instructional Designer is the bridge between our Engineering and Operations teams, ensuring knowledge and procedures are documented in a way that successfully enables our team to communicate information to the client. This role will support the entire organization by managing and contributing to a comprehensive knowledge base for our fast-growing public safety SaaS.
We’re looking for an Instructional Designer, a creative force in e-learning design with a proven track record. This candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining course content for e-learning and instructor-led training sessions to support the development, productivity, and retention of our customers, as well as developing/maintaining instructional materials. Our fantasy candidate will be creative and self-driven, will take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion, and stay laser- focused on developing interactive training products to delight and teach customers about our application.
Responsibilities and duties
- Plan, design and develop engaging and effective eLearning and Instructor-Led courses
- Develop technically accurate, and instructionally sound asynchronous eLearning for use in standalone eLearning, blended learning, and the flipped classroom
- Develop SCORM content using Adobe Captivate; build quizzes and interactivity
- Test eLearning courses prior to their release; upload courses into the Learning Management System; maintain and refresh existing eLearning courses
- Work closely with subject matter experts, trainers, and the Customer Success department leaders to prepare content that meets the needs of our customers and employees
- Report the status of projects to the SVP Operations
- Design a variety of instructional materials for ILT, vILT, and other programs as needed
- Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation
- Fill in to facilitate virtual instructor-led courses as needed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Google Suite
- Manage updates and revisions to technical literature
Requirements
The following experience is relevant to us:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Adult Education, Instructional Design, English, Communications, or another related degree program is required; Master’s Degree in Instructional Design is preferred
- 1 3 years of experience and demonstrated success as eLearning developer in a corporate setting is required
- Bilingual (Spanish) is strongly preferred
- At least one year of experience developing e-learning courses in Adobe Captivate, software simulation experience preferred
- In-depth knowledge of SCORM and xAPI technologies
- In-depth understanding of learning theories and instructional design models, including but not limited to; ADDIE, SAM, Dick and Carey, Bloom's Taxonomy, Keller's ARCS Model of Motivational Design, Gagne's Nine Events of Instruction, Kirkpatrick's Four Levels of Training Evaluation
- In-depth understanding of 508 Compliance for eLearning
- Experience with developing, managing, and contributing to online CRM-based knowledge bases.
- Portfolio of work examples is required
