Makeup artists don’t come much more legendary than Charlotte Tilbury. With over 20 years in the industry, she’s a true trail-blazer, creating some of film and fashion’s most iconic faces. Launched in 2013, Charlotte Tilbury created a revolutionary, award-winning range of red-carpet skincare, makeup and perfume. The Charlotte Tilbury Group is headquartered in London with global offices also in New York, Hong Kong and China.
This will be the first Legal Role to be based in our North American office, in New York. It is an extremely exciting opportunity for the right candidate. Initially, you will be the sole Legal Counsel based in North America and form part of a wider legal team based at our Global Headquarters in London and in China.
Role: You will report directly to the Head of Legal (Commercial and Intellectual Property) based in London and you will be the point person for all Legal matters arising in the North American market, whilst also supporting the wider business globally. You will draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, review and advise on marketing and advertising copy and roll out and enforce the Group’s compliance policies and practices. You will work closely with the Global Legal team.
Commercial: You will lead, with the support of the Head of Legal (Commercial and Intellectual Property), on the negotiation and implementation of commercial agreements predominantly with a North America focus including influencer agreements, model agreements, retailer agreements (bricks amp; mortar and e-commerce), subscription service agreements, sponsorship agreements, software and SaaS agreements and competition terms and conditions. As the legal team supports the global business, you will also be prepared to assist on global commercial matters where required.
Marketing: You will also support the Legal Counsel (UK) and Head of Legal (Commercial and Intellectual Property) in their review of global marketing and advertising assets including the review of product packaging, social media assets, tv commercials, website copy, blog posts and marketing emails.
Compliance: You will also lead on implementing training sessions to educate the North America office. This will include policies such as, anti-bribery, privacy and anti-trust laws, and deliver bespoke training to the relevant teams using template legal agreements e.g., influencer/retailer agreements.
The role would be well suited a commercial lawyer from practice who is looking to move in-house or a candidate who currently works in-house for a global retail business. Experience advising on marketing/advertising laws is desirable. You will have at least four years’ post qualification experience and have trained at a leading private practice firm. In-house experience is desirable but not essential. You will need to be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and at pace, demonstrating a commercial and practical approach in dealing with a variety of legal issues across multiple geographical locations and legal systems. Personable, approachable and with excellent communication skills, you must be a team player who can build successful relationships with colleagues and challenge and influence across all levels within the business.
