The Associate SDET is a new position at Vroom and is a gateway position for SDET career at Vroom. The Associate role carries the acknowledgement that the candidate is likely less experienced as a professional tester and coder, less experienced with Vroom’s systems or similar systems from previous roles, and will be expected to require mentorship and development to reach the level of excellence expected from our SDETs. The Associate SDET may start their career performing a greater degree of manual testing with an expectation to be developing greater automation skills over time. Given the emphasis on development, and growing into a larger role, the Associate SDET candidate is preferred to have an educational background or other indicator that suggests a strong ability to solve technical problems and an aptitude for testing and technical skills such as programmingResponsibilities:
  • Work with Agile team to develop test plans for team releases
  • Develop automated testing for software features
  • Execute additional testing to provide thorough test coverage for team
  • Build software libraries and utilities to facilitate current and future testing on team
  • Participate in team ceremonies and help shape team norms and processes
  • Be the quality advocate for your team
  • Create and maintain continuous execution of automated test suites
Qualifications:
  • Very strong coding skills and aptitude
  • Bachelor’s degree (Science, Tech, Engineering, Math fields a big plus)
  • Ability and desire to understand technical systems and concepts
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas and issues
  • Dev ops mentality to build self-service testing systems
  • Experience with Jenkins, Gitlab or other job running platform a plus
  • Experience with APIs or implementing http requests a plus
  • Experience with Selenium, Cypress, Ranorex or other UI automation framework a plus
  • Internship, work experience, or undergraduate research a plus
  • Academic or experiential knowledge of software architecture, especially pub/sub and asynchronous systems a plus
