Job Description

The Business Intelligence Architect shall be responsible for designing and implementing Business Intelligence related solutions, managing the rollout of new capabilities therein, and generally propelling the organization to the next level of BI maturity. The person will interact with our clients and differing roles within IT to gain understanding of the business environment, technical context, and strategic direction. This person will also be responsible for generating documentation as needed; conform to security and quality standards; and stay current on emerging trends. Teams supported include: Application Engineering, Data Engineering, Decision Science, and Business Analytics

For a successful candidate for this position, you must -

  • Design and implement data models that meet all business requirements in supporting dashboards, reports, and ad hoc analytics.
  • Take ownership to ensure delivery in a timely, measure fashion; find pragmatic solutions to problems; be willing to challenge the status quo and influence those within IT and outside to drive the BI platform(s) forward; and eventualize BI service offerings.
  • Display passion for learning the business, the data within in each business domain, and how it same can be monetized.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach to those within IT and outside IT on how to make the best use of BI service offerings.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • As our BI solution grows, ultimately manage a team of BI professionals (engineers, data scientists, etc.)
  • Verifying requirements, defining the BI architecture, developing a BI roadmap, providing best practices for implementing BI/Reporting solutions, and designing BI solutions that align to EDHC’s strategic data and analytics needs.
  • Management the development and maintenance of the Data Warehouse and all Business Intelligence platforms as well as ensure all platform configurations and operating procedures are fully documented.
  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing data governance and security practices for the enterprise.
  • Manage the development of the Data Warehouse amp; Business Intelligence platforms; ensure all Data Warehouse amp; Business Intelligence platforms configuration and operating procedures are fully documented and properly maintained.
  • Identify amp; support the implementation of new platform features amp; functions in response to business needs, while managing a timely release schedule for system enhancements
  • Produce documentation, artifacts and designs for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Stay current and provide insight on cutting edge software approaches, architectures and vendors. Bring thought leadership around recent trends and provide insight into how technology can impact our business and drive competitive advantages
  • Leverage interpersonal savvy and communication skills to explain technical benefits and trade-offs of proposed data solutions to gain buy in from diverse audiences
  • Leverage strategic partnerships and vendor relationship management skills to accelerate and improve quality of solutions
  • Execute and coordinate requirements management and change management processes. Participates as a member of and leads development teams.
  • Participates in cross-functional teams.
  • Represents team to clients.
  • Demonstrates technical leadership and exerts influence outside of immediate team.
  • Develops innovative team solutions to complex problems.
  • Contributes to the strategic direction of the BI team and beyond.
  • Integrates technical expertise and business understanding to create superior solutions for clients.
  • Consults with team members and other organizations, clients and vendors on complex issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8+ years of Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, PowerBI)
  • 2+ years of Microsoft Azure Data Platforms (Azure SQL, Data Warehouse, Data Factory, Analysis)
  • 5+ years of experience in data modeling (logical and physical), ETL design, and reporting design
  • 10+ years of experience working in a data warehouse environment
  • 10+ years of experience in SQL and be able to write complex logic using SQL as part of ETL, and use SQL effectively to perform complex data analysis and discovery
  • Strong Database Design/Architecture Skills
  • Experience with Data DevOps practices; ideally using Azure DevOps.
  • Significant hands on experience in creating and deploying KPI, analytic, and dashboard solutions including design, development, deployment, data engineering, data warehousing, and data management projects and practices.
  • Demonstrate strong organization skills and detail-oriented
  • Experience with large-scale, complex data environments
  • Ability to self-motivate and meet deadlines
  • Intense desire to learn
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, changing environment
