Job Description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for developing food and beverage formulations that showcase our natural and organic flavors and sustainable ingredient solutions. In this role, you will work both independently and as a team to develop concepts from bench-top to scale-up, consulting with and supporting our customers throughout the product development cycle. A solid understanding of food safety and laboratory best practices is required; your can-do attitude, creative problem-solving skills, and curious personality will set you apart. Staying up-to date with the latest food and beverage trends and processing technologies is key to long-term success in this role.

As part of the Applications Research amp; Development Team, no two days are ever the same! The position holder is also responsible for testing and documenting new flavor systems, ingredients, and lab/pilot plant equipment; researching flavor and food nutritional claims and product labeling requirements; and supporting the Flavor Ramp;D Team in compounding flavor samples as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduated in Food Science, Food Technology with some work experience in the Food and Beverage Industry, and/or Health and Nutrition is a plus; other related experience within food, beverage, and flavors may be considered.
  • Experience developing food and beverages within the FDA, USDA and Food Safety Modernization Act requirements
  • Able to interpret regulatory information and appropriately relate it to food/flavoring requirements.
  • Able to work effectively with customers and all levels of the organization.
  • Flawless organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Highly effective communication skills, including internal and customer presentations.
  • Proficiency in IT systems and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Self-starter who delivers against tight deadlines, but is also a team player.
  • Strong customer service skills and work ethic.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time
  • Fluent in English (read/write/speak)

Education Requirements

  • B.S. Degree or M.S. Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Health amp; Nutrition, Food Engineering, Biochemistry, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in the Food and Beverage Industry is a plus. Relevant work experience in lieu of degree will be considered with a minimum of 3 years of applicable Food or Beverage Industry experience.
  • Knowledge of flavorings is highly desired
  • Certifications in Food Safety, HACCP and/or auditing is a plus
