The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History (GLI) is the nation’s leading American history organization dedicated to K12 education. The Institute’s mission is to promote the knowledge and understanding of American history through educational programs and resources. Since its founding in 1994, the Gilder Lehrman Institute has created powerful and meaningful ways to teach and learn history. The Position
The Institute seeks an Assistant Director to help lead our Education Department in providing teachers and students around the country and internationally with high-quality programs and resources delivered online and in-person. This individual will be responsible for the oversight of programs to ensure that they meet teacher and student needs and represent the high standards of the Gilder Lehrman Institute, including our renowned Teacher Seminars and large-scale grants. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director of Education amp; Evaluation to grow and engage our network of Master Teachers from around the country, which plays a critical role in carrying out our programs. This individual will also be responsible for the supervision and growth of a small team of staff members.
The ideal candidate should have a strong connection to GLI’s mission, a collaborative spirit, be able to manage multiple priorities and adapt as projects evolve, and have outstanding project management skills and communication skills (verbal and written).
This role reports to the Director of Education amp; Evaluation and is based in New York City. Some evening and weekend work required.
