OPPORTUNITY

The Compensation Consultant is central to our Talent Equity Consulting Practice. They project manage client engagements, draft client presentations, assist in providing consulting advice, conduct qualitative research via client interviews and focus groups, and mentor and support Analysts and Associates, providing feedback, technical review, and development.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in compensation best practices in multiple industries, a strong client service orientation, superb communication and project management skills, and excellent analytical skills. They will be excited by the opportunity to work with some of the nation’s most impactful social justice organizations committed to equitable pay practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities of the Compensation Consultant include:

  • Planning and project managing all aspects of client engagements, including integrating practice-wide staff and resources to facilitate the successful execution of projects;
  • Leading focus groups and interviews to collect contextual information about clients, and translating that into tangible customizations for their compensation programs;
  • Summarizing internal and external research into client presentations, and supporting senior leaders in presenting this information to a broad array of stakeholders;
  • Conducting surveys, benchmarking and market research and crafting total rewards structures, programs and policies for clients;
  • Leading geographic, industry, and portfolio specific studies and compiling results into formal reports for broader distribution;
  • Participating in client meetings to present findings, answer questions and act as a trusted advisor.

PRIORITIES

A successful first year in this role for the new Compensation Consultant will include:

  • Production of consistently high-quality work products, including email communications, client presentations, external documents, and internal materials;
  • Integration into the existing Talent Equity Consulting team as a key compensation expert.

Requirements

In order to fulfill these responsibilities, the ideal Compensation Consultant candidate will have:

  • At least five years of professional experience in total rewards and compensation, especially in a consulting context;
  • Deep analysis and reporting experience with strong skills in data manipulation and analysis using spreadsheet software, and developing written reports which summarize analysis and provides interpretation in the context of the challenge faced by the client;
  • Knowledge of compensation principles, e.g., job benchmarking, salary structure design, job architecture;
  • Self-reflective and culturally competent leader who is well versed in - or interested in better understanding - how issues related diversity, equity and inclusion intersect with organizational rewards programs;
  • An excellent written communicator, able to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and clients;
  • Culturally competent and self-reflective, someone who maintains a strong growth mindset and desire to learn and grow as a professional;
  • Flexible and nimble; comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment with high accountability and low-to-moderate supervision;
  • Interested in mission-driven organizations, especially those serving children and families.

Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of $75,000 - $95,000 and robust benefits including medical, dental, and retirement.
