A law firm with offices in Washington, D.C. is seeking a full-time Policy Advisor to join the Legislative and Public Policy Practice Group.
This 25 person team, advocates for clients before the United States Congress and the departments and agencies of the Executive branch. Professionals in this group include political appointees in recent Presidential administrations and a bipartisan group of Congressional staff alumni.
The Legislative and Public Policy Practice Group works in a high-energy, fast-paced environment that rewards initiative and teamwork in the pursuit of quality client service. The primary focus of the group is on Congressional and regulatory advocacy on topics including: healthcare, insurance, energy, tax, financial services, telecommunications, trade, transportation, education, and congressional investigations. Clients include globally recognized brands, Fortune 500 companies, innovative start-ups, leading associations, healthcare systems, educational institutions, units of local government, foreign governments, and coalitions.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience working in Congress, the Executive branch, at a trade association, interest group, or for a corporation in government relations.
- Relevant experience might include staff work in Congress, for a corporation or association in general government affairs.
- Well-versed in the federal legislative process.
- Demonstrated policy expertise in more than one of the following areas: appropriations, defense, education, environmental and energy, financial services, foreign relations, healthcare and life sciences, tax, telecommunications, trade, or transportation.
- All applicants should have a four-year degree, excellent academic credentials and references.
